Avoid stress with this Sunday reset, and get ready for the week ahead!

I really think that every good week starts on Sunday. If you are lucky to have Sundays off, it is a chance for you to reset, get your stuff together and plan out your next week to start afresh. This is why I enjoy spending Sundays at home, creating a relaxing environment and organising myself.
If you want to improve your planning skills and change up your Sunday routine, this post is perfect for you! Read on to know where to start…

🧘 First, reset your mind

Slow Sundays are my favourite. It’s a day I take to do all the things I love but don’t give myself time to do during the week. By having a slow, relaxed Sunday, you are allowing your mind to reset, calm down and forget about the stresses of work, appointments, and so on. Here are a few things I enjoy doing on Sundays to reset my mind:
– Waking up without an alarm
– Having breakfast in bed 🥞☕
– Lighting a candle in the room and putting on some background music or nature sounds
– Catching up on cosy YouTube videos, like autumnal morning routines and home decor videos 🎃
– Going for a walk outside, observing nature and the changing colours of autumn
All this really helps me get out of my own mind and forget about my to-do list a little. To find out what will help you clear your mind, think about the things that bring you peace. Then, plan to do some of them every Sunday.

🤝 Write down your social commitments so you can plan your week around them

I will start off by saying this: I don’t know how people who don’t write things down in a planner manage to go about their days without forgetting anything! I would totally miss out on some stuff if I didn’t use a planner. So to get organised like me, you can either use a paper planner (I use my bullet journal) or an app on your phone. I recommend writing your social commitments, meetings and appointments, first in your planner. This way you can organise your days around those commitments. For example, you can map out the days where you’ll be at home in the evenings (i.e. when you’ll have more time for home tasks and/or self-care) and the days where you’ll be out for some time. That way when it comes to noting your main tasks and goals for the week, you will know which days will be optimal for you to tackle them.

🍽️ Meal plan to save time on busy evenings

Meal planning may seem like a daunting task that you can’t be bothered with on a Sunday, however it has so many benefits that you should give it a try anyway! Meal planning helps you save money shopping, save cooking time during the week, and helps you eat better and healthier in the long run! Here’s how you can do it:
1) Think about the meals you want to have during the upcoming week, bearing in mind the days you’ll be eating out (refer back to your social commitments) and the days you will need to take lunch at work. Make a list of those meals.
2) Write down the ingredients you need to make those meals. This will be the base of your shopping list for the week! That way you avoid overbuying (and consequently, you avoid spending too much money and wasting unused food).
3) On the Sunday, meal prep the main meals you will have over the first part of the week, from Monday to Wednesday. In the middle of the week, you can prepare the easier meals that don’t require too much cooking time (click this link for a few quick & healthy meal ideas!). Put everything in lunch boxes – preferably glass as they are more long-lasting than plastic – and voilà! Your first few meals of the week are sorted. No more eating tasteless sandwiches from the corner shop or over-spending on takeout when you’re at the office. It also saves you time at home during the week, which you can spend watching Netflix instead of cooking last-minute!

⭐ Map out your main goals for the new week

Last but not least, let’s talk about goals! I know, it may not be as trendy anymore to focus on goals and productivity – the situation worldwide with COVID and lockdowns has taught us that we need to slow down and being productive isn’t an ideal in itself. However I do think that a well-rounded week, and a well-rounded life, is fueled with goals and steps you make to move forward, celebrating new milestones and reaching what you aspire for. Hence the importance of setting yourself a few reacheable, attainable and realistic goals every week that you can work on. Don’t overwheld yourself and put too much on your plate, but choose three or four things you want to get done. Write them down in your planner so you don’t forget about them. For me, it is often writing new blog posts, doing photoshoots for Instagram or learning a new blogging-related skill!
